Mishablu Janet has been busy
First Janet became our first home-bred CFA Grand
Champion. Then she won 2nd Best of Breed in CFA (Cat Fanciers Association)
Region 4. And now she is the proud mother of two gorgeous four week old
kittens.
Thanks to Kaybrook Cattery, for letting their beautiful male, GC RW Kaybrook's Prince Charming stay with us and sire Janet's first litter. You can check out Janet on Janet's Page. Photos of her kittens are coming!
Mishablu Mary scores at shows
The daughter of Jake and Paris has been doing very well at
her kitten shows, even taking best kitten honors in the ring of a very
well respected Russian Blue breeder and judge. It means a lot when someone
who has contributed so much to the Russian Blue breed in the U.S. admires
your cat. Mary's first show photos have arrived and you can see them on
Mary's Page. We will begin showing her as an adult when she turns 8 months
on June 13. Let us know if you would like her show schedule as you are very
welcome to come and visit us at any of our shows.
And then there is Han Solo
What can we say about Han? He has been a very different
kitten from the day he was born. At two weeks old, he decided he did not
want to sleep with his mother and sister Greta any longer. Somehow he
managed to claw his way up the side of our bed. I woke up the next
morning with this tiny little kitten nestled right next to me. This was
a little terrifying as he did not even weigh a pound at that time! He
has also decided that kitten food is not for him - whether it is dry or
canned. This poses a serious problem as he is now two months old and still
sneaking "milk snacks" from his mom, Peeker and his Aunt Alice. I have
to make him special Han Food that combines dry kitten food with weaning
milk mixture. Slowly I hope to get him on to the dry cat food alone.
Elijah goes home - to bathe
Elijah Blue has been living with his new owner in Indiana
for only a few weeks, but he is already showing a side of his personality
that we had never seen. Elijah likes to splash in the bathtub! This all
came about when he first arrived at Marjory's home and jumped into the empty
tub to chase his tail. A few hours later, with the tub partially full of
water he failed to observe the old saying "look before you leap." Much
noise and splashing ensued followed by a cat erupting out of the tub
spraying water everywhere. His bath tub entries (ands exits) are much
more elegant now but he nonetheless has no issues with jumping in the tub
- whether or not it is occupied.
Kaybrook's Prince Charming
As we mentioned in Janet's paragraph, Kaybrook's Prince
Charming has been staying with us for the past two months. He is a very
sweet and beautiful cat and we are honored that he has taken a fancy to
a couple of our "girls." No, all male and female cats do not like each
other and a couple of our female cats have refused to mate with certain
males. For instance, Grace will have nothing to do with any other males
besides Jake!
